NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow (ACF) in Rheumatology

Dr Minha Rajput-Ray is an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow (ACF) in Rheumatology at the University of Manchester.

Minha was born and grew up in Kenya, however has ancestral origins from India and is thus keen to promote the objectives of SAHF.

Having gained a First Class BSc (Hons) in Osteopathic Medicine from London she read Medicine at the University of Dundee where she was part of a team that researched post-amputation pain, based on data collected by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Sierra Leone. Minha continued to develop an interest in the management of pain in poorly resourced settings (including poorly accessible patient populations). During this time, she was invited to give musculoskeletal health talks to members of the South Asian community both in London and Scotland.

Furthermore, as part of an International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) programme, she contributed to teaching at the inaugural meeting of the Kenyan Association for the Study of Pain and led the first epidemiological survey of healthcare professionals’ view of pain in Kenya which identified various barriers to pain management (including musculoskeletal pain) in a non-caucasian Kenyan based population.

Meanwhile, Dr Rajput-Ray looks forward to working to promote musculoskeletal health within the UK South Asian population.
