Dr Ami Banerjee has been Clinical Lecturer in Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Birmingham since 2011, spending his time between clinical cardiology, research and teaching. After qualifying from Oxford Medical School in 2002, he trained as a junior doctor in Oxford, Newcastle, Hull and London. His interest in preventive cardiology and evidence-based medicine led to a Masters in Public Health at Harvard(2004/05), an internship at the World Health Organisation(2005) and DPhil in epidemiology from Oxford(2010).
With over 60 publications to his name, his research concerning global health and access to medicines has relevance to UK clinical practice, particularly in multi-ethnic populations such as the West Midlands. Medical education has always been a keen interest and he continues to regularly teach undergraduate and postgraduate students. Ami is passionate about his synergistic interests in research, cardiology, global health and public understanding of science. In 2012, he won the Specialist Factual New Talent award at the Sheffield International Documentary Festival
