Kamran is a doctor and editor. Following five years in hospital medicine he moved into senior editorial roles at the BMJ, where he was deputy editor and acting editor.
During his time at the BMJ, Kamran was seconded to the World Health Organization, where he edited and revamped the WHO’s public heath journal, The Bulletin. In addition, Kamran created the BMJ Publishing Group’s flagship educational resource, BMJ Learning, and was a board member of BMJ Publishing Group Ltd.
He is currently editor of the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, the UK’s oldest medical journal, and editor of the new online journal, JRSM Short Reports.
In addition, Kamran works as a senior editor for the leading open-access journal PLOS Medicine, and is an honorary senior lecturer in the department of primary care and public health at Imperial College, London. He also contributes regularly to BBC Radio 4’s weekly medical show, Inside Health.
